Summer of Song will be a festival of masterclasses, recitals, networking opportunities, and exploring the rich culture of New York City hosted at Manhattan School of Music!

Programming Includes

Applications Decisions will release before May 1

Singers of all ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome to apply. Age 18+ with no upper limit

The Summer of Song Application includes the following:

  • Personal and Contact Information

  • Resume and Headshot

  • Restricted YouTube links for performance videos, see audition information below

  • A written or video response to TWO of the following questions:

    • How can the Summer of Song help you meet your artistic goals?

    • Have you ever felt unsure about being a musician and what changed your mind?

    • What about singing brings you the most joy?

    • Tell us what unique qualities and/or skills you bring to the industry.

    • We know you are passionate about performing, but what off-stage passions bring you joy?

Audition Information

Singers should submit a song in association with each masterclass they would like to be considered to sing in.

Applicants may consider one song for multiple masterclasses if it applies to more than one. For example: “Sympathy” by Florence Price is both American Art Song and African-American Song

American standards, circa 1920-1960


Singers will be evaluated during their respective masterclasses to be chosen for the Song of Summer recitals. Both recital will take place at Manhattan School of Music.

First recital will take place on Saturday, June 8 2024 featuring Black and Latinx composer.

Second recital will take place on Saturday, June 15 2024 featuring art songs of all genres and languages.
